Here’s how to get ready for your best ski season yet.

Unless you have a secret affinity for day-one “noodle legs,” now is the time to start getting those ski muscles ready. Waiting to ski yourself into shape can mean spending more time recovering and less time enjoying the mountain.
Focus on the muscles that do most of the work on the slopes: quads, hamstrings, glutes, and core, along with cardio to build endurance. Squats, lunges, step-ups, and balance exercises can all help prepare your body for long days on skis.
And you don’t have to stay cooped up in a gym. Take advantage of fall weather with uphill hikes, trail runs, bike rides, or long walks. Your legs will thank you when everyone else is calling it quits and you still have enough left for one more run.

Try on your helmet, goggles, jackets, pants, gloves, and layers, especially for growing kids. Check zippers, inspect for wear, and make sure everything still fits comfortably.
Bringing your own equipment? Get it into your local shop for a preseason tune, wax, and appropriate binding check. Prefer to rent? Reserve equipment in advance for the best selection—and one less thing to think about when you arrive.

It also gives you a head start on the details beyond the house. Popular holiday dates, ski school, airport transportation, equipment rentals, private chefs, and other winter essentials can book well in advance.
The Moving Mountains Reservations Team can help match you with the right luxury vacation home in Steamboat, Breckenridge, Vail, or Beaver Creek. Once you book, your complimentary Guest Services Specialist can help with the rest - from airport transportation and ski rentals to lift tickets, ski school, grocery delivery, and more.
So while the snow may not be falling quite yet, ski season has officially begun - at least when it comes to planning and the countdown.
