The Ultimate Fly Fishing Package

Premium Outdoor Enthusiast Acitvities

Come visit the Vail Valley this summer to experience some of the finest trout fishing in the Rocky Mountains. Located along the Gold Medal waters of the Gore Creek, and the roaring Eagle River, the Vail Valley offers unlimited access to the best fishing Colorado has to offer, along with several nationally recognized outfitters with the equipment and knowledge to provide our guests with a memorable mountain experience. The Gore Creek, home to countless rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout of above average size, rightfully occupies a position high on the priority list of any serious angling enthusiast.

This summer Peak Properties is proud to offer our Fly Fishing Adventure Package, to share with our visitors the finest fishing experience that Colorado has to offer. Tailored to the interests and abilities of each client, our concierge staff will work together with you prior to your arrival to coordinate all the details of your ideal mountain escape. Relax and leave the planning to us, we have the local resources to make the necessary arrangements that will ensure your comfort and satisfaction. Envision yourself stepping off of a flight into the cool Colorado air, awaiting the following itinerary:

Day 1-

  • Arrival in Vail, check in to 1225 Westhaven Lane, meet-and-greet with Peak Properties concierge staff, familiarization tour of home/town with concierge.
  • Get acquainted with Vail, take a stroll down Bridge Street and sample some of Vail’s world-famous cuisine.
  • Stroll through the Betty Ford Gardens to the Gerald Ford Amphitheatre for the Hot Summer Nights concert series. Every Tuesday this free concert draws crowds of visitors and locals alike to meet, socialize, and enjoy some wonderful artists.
  • Spend the evening hours exploring the pubs along Bridge Street. A handful of lively venues will keep you entertained for the night, and you can pick out your favorite watering hole for the trip.

Day 2-

  • Brought your own gear? Step off the back deck and into the Gold Medal Waters of Gore Creek to hone your skills while the beginners head to the Village to take advantage of Gore Creek Fly Fisherman’s casting clinic. The daily clinic allows anglers to get a feel for the art of fly casting under the tutelage of a professional guide. (daily, 10:30 a.m., free)
  • Rendezvous with the crew for lunch at Up The Creek, (a favorite among locals for its river-side patio scene) or any one of Vail’s many great lunch spots and imagine the possibilities…
  • Take the entire crew back out to Gore Creek to try to hunt down some resident “hogs” and get all your gear dialed in for the remainder of your trip
  • Finalize plans/preparation for tomorrow’s fishing expedition. Our concierge will assist you prior to your arrival in arranging a private guided float trip on the waters of the famous Colorado River.

Day 3-

  • Load up, put on the sunscreen and head out on the river with your private fishing guide. Vail boasts a number of nationally renowned outfitters, including the Orvis’ 2007 Outfitter of the Year Fly-Fishing Outfitters. These guides have the expertise and knowledge to get you throwing the perfect pattern over a number of the best holes in these cool mountain waters.
  • After a memorable day on the water, we would advise heading to the ever-popular Beaver Creek Rodeo for a little western flavor. This event happens every Thursday throughout the summer and draws huge audiences from up and down the Valley.
  • After the Rodeo, head home for a relaxing evening. Let Peak make a trip to the store and gather the supplies for a Creekside BBQ with a compliment of Colorado made micro-brewed beer.

Day 4-

  • While you are here in the Rockies, take a day to explore all that the area has to offer. Here is a sampling of the many activities that we occupy our summer with:

Golf, Whitewater Rafting, Road/Mountain Biking, Hiking, Hummer Tours, Horseback Riding, ATV tours, Hunting (in season)

Of course, if you want a day to rest and reflect on all the huge trout you’ve landed, you can always spend the day reviving your mind and casting arm at the Aria Spa, located right near your home in Cascade Village.

  • Consider a day trip to Aspen or Steamboat Springs. These mountain towns offer a glimpse of Colorado’s frontier history and are only a short drive from Vail. For those guests who came to fish, the famed Yampa and Frying Pan rivers are along the route to these destinations. Bring some extra mysis shrimp patterns; the trout on these dam-fed waters grow fat feeding on anything that the reservoir spits out.
  • If you return to Vail at a reasonable hour, take a free ride up the Eagle-Bahn Gondola for the Friday Afternoon Club, a weekly gathering atop the mountain featuring live music and outdoor activities. Have a burger and a beer on top of the mountain or head down to Lionshead to taste some fresh seafood at montauk or Billy’s Island Grill.

Day 5-

  • Spend your last full day getting back out on the water. Our recommendation would be to wade the Gore in the morning and spend your afternoon on a float trip of the Eagle River. The afternoon dry fly action on the Eagle is fantastic, so head out and hook up with a few of the brown trout that this stretch is famous for.
  • If you venture down valley to fish, consider trying out one of the many fine dining options that the town of Edwards offers. Sato is known up and down the valley for its Sushi, or the lamb at Juniper is always voted tops among locals.

Day 6-

  • Sunday morning can only be spent strolling along the Vail Farmer’s Market, a weekly gathering of local farmers and artisans where you can sample some of the fruits of the west. Eat a Palisade Peach, grab a bite for lunch, or stop by and see the stunning images by Dale Harpe, local mountain photographer.
